THE PORTUGUESE COBBLESTONE PAVEMENT AS A COUNTRY'S IDENTITY FACTOR
The Day of Portugal also celebrates our entire artistic heritage.
Today marks the Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities. With almost a thousand years of history, our country commemorates every June 10 the date of the death of Luís de Camões, in 1580, one of the greatest exponents of our literature. In fact, this ephemeris is also dedicated to the Portuguese language.
And if maritime literature, which looks back on our conquering past, inspired by epic struggles, is one of the landmarks in our cultural memory, we also have no doubts that this influence is reflected in different areas of daily life - from architecture to music, or from fashion to painting. Of course, like the maritime icons in many monuments throughout our country, this inspiration is also evident in the Portuguese sidewalk.
In fact, among many reasons, this perception of something that is part of our path also justifies the Candidacy of the Sidewalk for National Intangible Heritage, as we had the opportunity to mention previously.
Take a look at the video, where it is possible to find several maritime inspirations in Portuguese pavement.
